332 I purchased the digital version of this series because the reviews were very positive, it was from a established Christian writer and I am a huge fan of this subject. In the past I have purchased/downloaded and read fiction books, non-fiction books , Sub-Committee hearing testimony and EMP commission reports on the subject of a massive power outage. I have enjoyed reading all of these as well as reading this series up to the 2nd book. I appreciate Christianity being brought into a SHFT situation and felt it was refreshing to have faith in God during a very troubling time. I won't spoil how the power goes out, but it was a cool twist on previous things I've read. The author gets an A for originality as well as an A for taking on this subject with God and faith as a major part of the family she writes about. However, just as other reviews have discussed, one of the main characters, Deni, is more than annoying. I pray to God that such a person is never in charge of anything important. I am currently on chapter 24 of the 2nd book and I am having a difficulty continuing not only because of this character, but mainly because it's getting difficult believing the story itself. A massive power outage has occurred, nothing electronic works, not even cars, and people are still acting like this is just an inconvenience. At this point in the book I believe the outage is into it's 2nd or 3rd month and even though there has been a murder or two and a small amount of looting, all seems to be fairly normal, well except for no electricity. This series seems to be a PG version of a very, very bad situation. Today, most people have about 3 or 4 days work of food in their house and not very much water. As soon as they run out, they will start getting hungry and eventually start doing anything to get food. At no time in this series thus far has there been any kind of urgency about food, security, or looting. It's discussed, but like I said before, a very PG version of what would I think would actually happen. I don't mean to plug another book during my review of this one, but if you want a true vision of what would actually happen in a massive power outage that has lasted more than a few months, please read One Second After by William Forstchen. It is a truly terrifying story of a massive outage and how a small town deals with it.This author has a great idea, but in my experience of other fiction and non-fiction, it comes up a bit short. This series is okay if you are looking for a very watered down version of a catastrophe, but not if your are looking for the seriousness of an event that will kill millions of people and change our country forever. I will try to carry on and finish it because it has potential, but if it remains the same until the end of this book, I think I'll have to pass one the last two.
